Chain Link Fence

Budget Fence N Deck offers a full line of Commercial, Industiral and Residential chain link fence installation.

A chain-link fence (also referred to as wire netting, wire-mesh fence, chain-wire fence, cyclone fence, hurricane fence, or diamond-mesh fence) is a type of woven fence usually made from galvanized or LLDPE-coated steel wire.

Fencing usually comes in 50 ft rolls. Common heights include 3 ft, 3 ft 6 in, 4 ft, 5 ft, 6 ft, 7 ft, 8 ft, 10 ft, and 12 ft, though almost any height is possible. Common mesh gauges are 9, 11, and 11.5. Mesh length can also vary based on need, with the standard mesh length being 2". For tennis courts and ball parks, the most popular height is 10 ft, and tennis courts use a mesh length of 1.75".

The popularity of chain-link fence is due to its relatively low cost in comparison to wood or wrought iron. A further advantage is that, due to the open weave, chain-link fences are transparent and do not obscure sunlight from either side of the fence. One can make a chain-link fence semi-opaque by inserting slats into the mesh.

The installation of chain-link fence involves setting posts into the ground and attaching the fence to them. The posts may be steel tubing, timber or concrete and may be driven into the ground or set in concrete. End, corner or gate posts, commonly referred to as "terminal posts", must be set in concrete footing or otherwise anchored to prevent leaning under the tension of a stretched fence. Posts set between the terminal posts are called "line posts" and are set at intervals not to exceed 10 feet. The installer attaches the fence at one end, stretches it, and attaches at the other, easily removing the excess by "unscrewing" a wire. Finally, the installer ties the fence to the line posts with aluminum wire. In many cases, the installer stretches a bottom tension wire, sometimes referred to as "coil wire", between terminal posts to help minimize the in and out movement that occurs at the bottom of the chain-link mesh between posts. Top horizontal rails are used on most chain-link fences, although not necessary. Bottom rails may be added in lieu of bottom tension wires, and for taller fences, 10 feet or more, intermediate horizontal rails are often added

Once stretched, a bottom wire should be secured to the line posts and the chain-link mesh "hog ringed" to the tension wire 2' on center. One generally installs this wire before installing the chain-link mesh.

For added security a row of barbed wired as well as razor wired can be installed.

Single Swing Walk Gate made in various heights with standard 4, 5, or 6' openings with standard hardware.

Single Drive gates from 12′-18′ and double gates from 24′-36′ can handle most typical low-security access control needs. Gates are available in heights from 6′-8′. Add privacy slats to your gate to enhance privacy and keep prying eyes from viewing your equipment and property.

A Rolling gate rests and rolls on the ground wheel carrier. It is always the size of the opening of gate; whereas a Cantilever slide gate ( Figure 2) is 50% longer than the opening so it is held above ground (about 6"), as it slides and in closed position the extra length (counter balance) is held between the cantilever rollers which are mounted on the posts, 2 above and 2 below in lengths of 4ft, 5 ft, 6 ft, 7 ft, 8 ft and 10 ft High and up to 20 ft Long Openings.

Cantilever gates are made to order in various heights and opening sizes. They are offered plain top or with barbed wire arms welded on for barbed wire systems.

The actual gate size is calculated with size of the opening plus 50% for counter balance. For example, if the gate opening is 20 feet, the actual gate size will be 30 feet.

Normally, the post sizes used for cantilever gates are 3" and 4" OD (outside diameter) pipe.

Cantilever gates are mounted on 3 posts; 2 are mounted with 4 rollers, one for each top and bottom. The 3rd post is the latch post where cantilever latch assembly is mounted for latching and locking.
Actual Gate Frame will be about 50% longer as explained above.
